David López to leave RCD Espanyol
The captain departs after 237 official matches for the club
David López will leave RCD Espanyol on June 30th, following eight seasons in the first team and 237 official matches for Los Pericos.
López is one of the most important players in the recent history of RCD Espanyol, and an example for future generations. He arrived at the club in the 2007-2008 season to join the Juvenil A side, from Damm CF. On September 26th, 2010 he made his debut with the first team, although his breakthrough came in the 2013-2014 campaign, after playing on loan at Leganés and Huesca.
After a brilliant season, he signed for Napoli, before returning definitively to RCD Espanyol, where he has played for the last six campaigns. In his two spells at the club he has played 237 official matches (LaLiga, Copa del Rey and Europa League) and has scored 13 goals.
López has stood out for his professionalism, commitment and leadership, especially in the most difficult moments of recent seasons. Captain of the first team, he has played in Europe with RCD Espanyol and also helped the team back to the Primera División. The defender has been one of the cornerstones of the dressing room and the club during Chen Yansheng's mandate.
David López will say goodbye to the club and the fans next Tuesday, in an act that will take place at the RCDE Stadium at midday.
