Cabrera: "Our lives depend on victory against Rayo"
The defender previews Sunday's crunch clash
As every game takes on increasing importance for RCD Espanyol in their battle for survival in the top flight, the team are preparing to perform at their best in the final four fixtures of the season. First up are Rayo Vallecano on Sunday afternoon, and defender Leandro Cabrera insists that the group are working "to be able to win."
“It's frustrating not to have taken advantage of the previous opportunities that we've had, but in the end, until every last resort has been exhausted, we will continue fighting. We know that this Sunday's game is a final and that is the way that we're treating it. We know that if we are focused, we have a good chance that the game will go our way,” he stated on Thursday.
“We have the squad and the right attitude to go out there and win on Sunday. Our lives depend on it. We are in the mood for revenge and to win again to show that we deserve to be in this division."
Finally, he also addressed the unsavoury incidents that occurred last week in the derby against FC Barcelona.
"The behaviour of the fans, in general, has been exemplary. There are moments when the situation overwhelms all of us and you feel a bit helpless. What happened is something that we regret and that we do not want to happen again, but our fans, even in the face of many disrespectful acts, have always maintained their composure."
