Braithwaite: "We must focus on our game"
The striker has his sights set on this weekend's match against Real Betis
Martin Braithwaite had an unfortunate involvement in last Saturday's LaLiga match against Athletic Club, as his first half goal was disallowed by the referee, stifling RCD Espanyol's hopes of a comeback.
The Dane spoke on Tuesday about the incident, and also about what lies ahead with Saturday's trip to Real Betis.
“I can't control what the referees do. We have to focus on our game and nothing else," he said of the decision taken by the official, Juan Martínez Munuera. "Obviously we are disappointed with the defeat. Now we have to forget last Saturday's match, and focus on the future and this Saturday which is very important".
Espanyol will look to bounce back this weekend against Real Betis, whom they meet this coming weekend. Braithwaite is optimistic about the task ahead, having scored the winner in a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture this season.
Braithwaite continued, “There are 10 games to go and it is time to start winning. We have to win if we are going to change the situation. The team are working very well and it is important for us to get a victory. It is a tough fixture for us, but we beat them at the RCDE Stadium earlier in the season. We will have the same ambition as always and we will go there to win".
