Braithwaite: “We have to go one step further”
Striker emphasises the need to win every match regardless of competititon
Martin Braithwaite spoke to the media in a press conference on Monday, after joining up with the first team in Murcia.
The Danish striker arrived at the team camp in San Pedro del Pinatar last Thursday, following his involvement in the World Cup across the last few weeks. Despite being back for just a matter of days, his mind is already fully set on the competitions ahead.
Braithwaite said, “You have to win every game. There are no friendlies. The team are doing very well, working hard and with confidence. I will play where the coach says, even if I have to play in goal. I'm here to help the team."
Having returned to training last week, Braithwaite played a few minutes in Saturday’s friendly against Torino. RCD Espanyol take on Belgian team KV Mechelen next on Wednesday, as they wrap up their off-season preparations in southern Spain.
Braithwaite said, “I am not thinking about new signings. We have a good team, now we must win and go one step further to win the matches. The derby is an important game for the club and the fans. Although it's an important game for us, it's just another three points as important as any other three points.”
