Blanco: "The competition is very demanding"
The RCD Espanyol B coach previews a meeting with Badalona Futur SAD
RCD Espanyol B suffered a setback at home against Mallorca B on the last league matchday, and the team will look to return to winning ways against Badalona Futur SAD away at midday on Sunday.
Up against opponents who have been somewhat inconsistent this term, coach Luis Blanco warned ahead of the game that he expects a tough contest.
“This week we have been able to analyse what happened against Mallorca B on the last matchday. We know that the competition is very demanding. We performed at a good level in the first half but we were not effective in front of goal. In the second half, at the first setback, we did not show the resourcefulness to recover. This is part of our learning process: The conditions are tough, every team poses problems and we need to be at our best to win games,” said the coach.
"Every opponent is demanding, and that this benefits the growth of the players. In the competitive aspect, there have been specific games in which we needed to do more and we should have done more, like last Sunday. The demand of this competition is huge and any team, regardless of their position, are capable of winning," he underlined.
"I'm expecting an evenly match game against a side with good players. They have had patches of form and have overcome situations thanks to various formations. At the beginning of the season, for me they were a team that had to be near the top -and there is still time for them to achieve it."
