Blanco: "A win would be an important step forward"
RCD Espanyol B target three points against SCR Deportiva
On a solid run of form, RCD Espanyol B will aim to keep their positive result going this Sunday in their game against SCR Deportiva, which kicks off at the Ciudad Deportiva at 12pm. Victory this weekend would take Luis Blanco's side one step closer to the playoffs.
“SCR Deportiva are performing at a very good level and have been playing well in all their matches. It's going to be a difficult match, because they have very good offensive play," warned the RCD Espanyol B coach.
"The data and the numbers are there to see: They have many wins, have scored a lot of points and, furthermore, they have conceded very few goals. It's going to be a very demanding match, but we like that and it motivates us. We want to get the victory and cut the points gap."
"They are one of the best teams in the league in terms of attack. Defensively, they are very compact, they control many facets of the game and are competitive. They have experienced players and young talents with a lot of ambition that give them a boost. They are up there fighting on their own merits in a division that is of maximum difficulty."
Blanco also reflected on the season so far, saying that “I think we did well in our learning process and maturity. The results were not going well, but the feeling was good. We didn't let our heads drop and continued to compete in every match. In this sense, we have taken a step forward and it has helped us to win games and reach these last five games in the best possible shape. A victory would mean an important step forward and we would almost confirm promotion."
