"Athletic is a strong block"
Víctor Sánchez points out that the victory against R. Betis is a plus
Víctor Sánchez faces on Tuesday one of his favourite rivals: Athletic Club. The team from Vizcaya, that currently is seventh in the ranking, is, according to the Catalan midfielder, a very complicated opponent. "It's the team that marks the seventh position. It is a strong block, which marks a similar dynamic every year. I hope it's a great game and we can win it. I've been very lucky against them. Besides scoring, we have made very good matches here and there. We are good because we are two teams that fight, fight. Winning would be god and an injection of morale", he said.
In this sense, Víctor Sánchez insisted that it will be "a match of duels, one against one. It will be difficult to have the possession because it is a very intense team and anyone can score. It will be a very tough opponent because in their field they have those blasts that seem to be missing and in 10 minutes they change it. We must be strong and, when we have the ball, try to play".
In any case, Víctor has pointed out that there will be time to think about Europe: "We want to win every game and when there are 2, 3 or 4 games and we will make figures or numbers to see what we need to be seventh."
Also, the player said that Espanyol arrives with confidence after beating R. Betis. "It's one of the games we were missing. Win when you lose 0-1 at the end, go up with that desire, momentum... it gives you a lot of moral and is very good for the team. That gives you morale for the rest of the season".
Víctor also talked about the loss of his teammate Gerard Moreno who had not lost any game this season: "Making up for his loss is very difficult because you can put a player who gives you goal, but not the job he gives you. Or vice versa. He is very complete, helps in defence, has goal. It is a basic piece. Anyway, we have other players with very good characteristics, which can help you. They all do".
