A logo with 120 years of history
The club is incorporating this image to commemorate such an important anniversary
This will be a very special year for RCD Espanyol. The club celebrates its 120th birthday; a very significant milestone for the Espanyol family which is continuing its fight with great pride and determination despite the adversities and difficulties it has faced. We leave behind a past with a lot of history, a legacy built over generations and, although our current situation isn't easy, with hard work, we can look forward to a bright future together. We should celebrate these 120 years as a demonstration of our club's strength and endurance.
To commemorate this event, the club has created a logo that will shine brightly on membership cards and passes this season. It's a simple yet elegant logo comprising three parts of our club's identity: RCD Espanyol, the shield and our anniversary year.
1. The acronym RCDE stands for Real Club Deportivo Espanyol (from Barcelona), once more reaffirming the club's name as an essential institution both within the city of Barcelona and the region of Catalonia as a whole.
2. The number 120 represents the 120th anniversary of the Club which will be celebrated on 28th October. It's the date when the newspaper 'Los Deportes' published an article about the creation of a university students' team called the Spanish Foot-Ball Society.
3. Central to the club's visual identity, the shield plays a central role in the graphics, a result of the combination of the 120 and the RCDE, which is represented by the crown.
