4-3: Lethal attack
Great win by Espanyol to defeat Las Palmas
Espanyol had an incredible start and David López got the first goal for the white and blue team with a great header that surprised Javi Varas. It was a great beginning for the locals that once more were able to get in front against a very dangerous team as Las Palmas. After the goal, the visitors started to have the ball and during the first half hour of the game Espanyol wasn’t able to cross their own field. Obviously, this situation didn’t finish well for the white and blue team. Lemos with a long shot was able to score the equalizer.
Things didn’t change much after the goal and Las Palmas carried on dominating the match. Therefore, Espanyol was able to create some danger in a pair of counterattacks. The fist one finished with a pass from Jurado that Piatti wasn’t able to connect. The second one, however, had a better ending. Piatti got rid of his defender and assisted to Gerard who put again Espanyol on the lead.
Again the first minutes after the break were fantastic. Espanyol had two good chances but it was Las Palmas that scored after a doubtful foul that Lemos finished scoring. Therefore, Espanyol had a quick answer and Caicedo took advantage of a great assist from Gerard to provoke a penalty. Piatti was the player in charge of scoring the third goal. Espanyol kept pushing and Jurado scored the fourth after a brilliant control. Las Palmas gave some emotion to the match with another goal but Espanyol was able to get another victory.
