4-0: Indisputable victory
Puado’s hat-trick led to the victory of a great Espanyol performance
Espanyol don’t want to suffer more than they have to and show they’re determined to secure their objective as soon as possible. Vicente Moreno’s side were clearly superior over the talented UD Las Palmas team that couldn’t do anything to stop the white and blues. Puado was the most outstanding player of the victory by scoring three goals, but the whole team performed at an extremely high level to take the three points.
The team’s energy in recent matches is generating a huge buzz in the surroundings, but the changing room is where they keep focused on accomplishing the objective. Step by step, match by match. The lead up to the match against UD Las Palmas could generate some doubt. The team led by Pepe Mel has several quality players, but currently find themselves in no man’s land this season. Since the start of the match, Espanyol showed that they faced the encounter with maximum respect. The home side didn’t take long to warn their rival before Puado started his extraordinary goal fest.
The forward put the white and blues in front after following up on a shot stopped by Valles. The VAR was consulted to clarify a possible off-side decision, but the goal was allowed. A few minutes later and he beat the keeper again with a header, and shortly after that, he finished off a solo move with a precise right-foot finish. A hat-trick for the young Catalan forward who was a real headache for Lemos. The right-winger lost control of himself so much that he was given two yellow cards in barely ten minutes. Espanyol played a superb first half that could have ended up opening the flood gates.
The little excitement there was in the match ended just a few minutes into the second half when Moreno Aragón pointed to the penalty spot after a handball incident inside the box. Embarba was responsible for sealing the match and beating Valles for the fourth time. Espanyol reduced the pace, but that didn’t stop them producing an extraordinary goal fest. Three points more and a match less towards promotion.
