4-0: Defeat in Galicia
RCD Espanyol Femení restart their league campaign with a defeat to Deportivo
RCD Espanyol Femení's return to action after two weeks off saw the team lose 4-0 away to playoff rivals Deportivo Abanca Femenino on Saturday.
Back after the international break, Carol Miranda's side were attacking in the early going, but fell behind as Millene managed to open the scoring with Dépor's first chance in the 6th minute.
That was followed up by Ainhoa hitting the crossbar as the home team looked to extend their lead, but Espanyol began to take control and enjoy their first chances. Nayadet Opazo, making her starting debut, came close with a header, Alba Mellado had a one-on-one thwarted and Adriana Martín's long range shot all failed to find their way into the net.
Dépor threatened with a chance before the break on the counter, but María Pi was able to stifle the effort. After the restart, another early goal from Millene widened the gap. Espanyol had to take risks in order to get back into the match, and the gamble did not pay off as Ainhoa and Millene both scored before the end to cap off an emphatic victory for the hosts.
