Espanyol loses against a good Betis

In one of the most unpalatable nights that are remembered in years in Seville, Espanyol and Betis played  to consolidate their aspirations at this stage of the championship. The locals looked at the rivals who have immediately above, while the Catalans wanted to maintain the run of results that reached and seven days.

In the first 45 minutes, Betis had the main possession. Espanyol did not go through much trouble until a soft but drenched ball escaped Pau between his hands and ended in the white and blue goal. 

With Baptistao and Gerard Moreno controlled, it was difficult for Espanyol to reach the local goal fluently. Only Piatti managed to sneak into an action inside the area but was immediately surrounded by the defenders.

After the break, Quique Sánchez Flores moved the bench and advanced the lines. Betis was comfortable and closed to counterattack. And in one of those, the second local goal came. Boudebouz kicked with his left leg to send the ball to the back of the net, close to the post. Espanyol reacted immediately and made four consecutive attacks that ended in a corner.

But Betis achieved the third. From the pressure of his midfielders, they finished the play at the feet of Francis who, instead of centering, shot Pau from close range.

Betis was comfortable on the pitch, grown by the result. The squad of Quique Sánchez Flores tried to compete with the entry of Sergio García and Dídac Vilà, but could not change the sign of the game.
