2-2: Solid point
RCD Espanyol B share the points on the road to UD Alzira
RCD Espanyol B earned an important point in a 2-2 draw away to UD Alzira on Sunday.
An end-to-end first half saw Espanyol take inside seven minutes, as Gastón Valles marked his debut with a goal on the rebound from Kenneth Soler’s shot. But the joy was short-lived, when 10 minutes later the hosts equalised from the spot.
That penalty gave Alzira the momentum, and by the half hour mark they turned it around to go in front. Though they had lost their lad, the young pericos were not giving up and equalised just before half-time thanks to Kenneth’s strike.
The team were set to go into half-time level but were reduced to ten men in additional time, an unjust dismissal for Espanyol’s Rafa Bauza in the closing stages of the first half.
In the second half, Espanyol knew they needed to kept it compact at the back, looking to hit the hosts on the break. They almost conceded the point in the 89th minute, but goalkeeper Iker Venteo protected with a great save. A solid point away from home for Espanyol B, who make it seven games unbeaten and stay out of the automatic relegation spots at the bottom of the fourth division.
