Late defeat in Tenerife for RCD Espanyol Femeni
RCD Espanyol Femení lost 2-1 to UDG Tenerife B in their first match of 2023, conceding a late goal in the final minutes on Sunday.
The home team took the lead very early on after six minutes, but Espanyol bounced back with a series of chances. From one of them, Nayadet Opazo was fouled inside the area and Adriana Martín converted the resulting penalty.
The match progressed with Espanyol trying to have control of the ball, but with their opponents very intense with their pressing.
In the final stretch, in the 80th minute, UDG Tenerife B made it 2-1. Espanyol tried every way they could to salvage a draw, but there would be no way back into the game.
Next weekend the team will host AEM Lleida at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque.
