2-1: Cruel defeat
RCD Espanyol Femení are beaten late on away to CA Osasuna Femenino
RCD Espanyol Femení were beaten late on in a 2-1 defeat by CA Osasuna Femenino on Saturday.
Arriving as league leaders, Adrián González’s side knew that it would take a lot to overcome the hosts at Tajonar. Despite having a good first opening 45 minutes, Espanyol went into half-time behind on the scoreboard, as Osasuna took the lead shortly before the half-hour mark in one of their few dangerous chances.
In the second half coach González looked to the bench in search of something to change the momentum of the game. He did exactly that with the substitute of Lice Chamorro, who equalised for the Mágico in the 48th minute.
The match went and the result did not change, despite the fact that both teams were close to the goal on several occasions. In the last minute of normal time Osasuna were awarded a penalty, a golden chance to seize the three points. Romane Salvador saved the spot kick, but the referee made it be retaken and Osasuna did not let them off.
A brutal defeat in stoppage time where Espanyol could have taken more, and frankly deserved more in Pamplona. It is a first defeat of the season but they remain on top after five matches, as the road to promotion continues.
