Espanyol is knocked out of the Cup after losing to Barcelona
Espanyol fought until the last minute to classify for the Spanish Cup semi-finals but the white and blue team wasn’t able to score a goal that would have been decisive. Luis Suárez scored early and a few minutes after was Messi who got the second with a lucky goal. The team managed by Quique Sánchez Flores was able to stay in the match and Gerard and Granero, in the first half, had two good chances to score.
After half time, the manager decided to do some changes and with Leo Baptistao and Sergio García the team attacked more and put Barcelona in some trouble. Pau, with two great saves, kept Espanyol in the match. In the last minutes, Gerard was fouled by Jordi Alba when he was about to score but the referee ignored the action. Barcelona finished the match wasting time against a team that had their chances until the end.
