1-2: Deserved and hard-fought win
RCD Espanyol beat Ibiza Islas Pitiusas thanks to a 92nd-minute winner
RCD Espanyol B took a 2-1 win against CD Ibiza Islas Pitiusas on Sunday, claiming their first away triumph in six attempts thanks to a late winner.
The game began with Ibiza controlling possession, but the first chance of note was for Espanyol B, through their direct strategy: Abde Damar, seven minutes in, shot from the edge of the area, sending his effort just wide of the post.
In the 19th minute, an overlap by Nabil Touaizi on the left flank took him to the goalline, and his low cross in allowed Juan Camilo Becerra to make it 1-0 for the visitors..
Things turned further in Espanyol's favour when Ibiza had a player sent off for a rough challenge on Joan Puig.
In the second half, Ibiza came out strong, hitting the crossbar with a effort and then equalising after just three minutes of play.
Espanyol took complete control from there, as Ibiza opted to search for a winner from counter-attacks and set pieces. Puig and Becerra both had opportunities denied, but the pericos' persistence paid off deep into stoppage time, when Armand Vallès turned the ball in to snatch a deserved victory at the last.
