Espanyol begins the League with a great point against Sevilla
One year after Espanyol was back in Sevilla. 12 months ago the white and blue squad was a team under construction. Now is a strong team, that has the ideas very clear and that can compete with the best of the League. Quique’s boys played a great match to get a point against Sevilla.
Espanyol started doing great and soon Baptistao had a great chance to get in front of the scoreboard. However, the Brazilian wasn’t able to score as Soria made to great saves. A few minutes later was Gerard who tried but his shot went out. It was Baptistao again who was close to the goal but Rico, who came in after Soria’s injury, avoid it.
The white and blue team was doing a great job and Sevilla didn’t found the way to create trouble. Pau showed that he can be the goalkeeper of the future and made some good saves. However, the match changed after the referee gave a goal that it was impossible to see. Espanyol suffered but the defence and Pau did great not to receive more goals. The thing turn better went Baptistao, after a great action, score the draw.
The second half started with a great performance of Espanyol hat again had good chances to score. The truth is that the team was doing great. Therefore, Sevilla started to pressure and Espanyol had to do a great effort not to lose the point. The final minutes after Banega was sent off, allowed the white and blue team to control the match and get a very meritorious point.
