1-1: Deserved point in Lleida
RCD Espanyol B come back to draw with 10 men
RCD Espanyol B claimed a point in a 1-1 draw with Lleida on Sunday, in a match that saw them play with ten men for more than 50 minutes.
The young pericos began the match well and controlled possession, but from practically the only move that Lleida were able to put together in the first half, they made it 1-0 on 14 minutes.
Espanyol reacted well and had their best chance of the period through Raúl Dacosta, just two minutes after conceding. The forward almost took advantage of a loose ball from a scramble in the box to equalise.
A series of setbacks followed. Before the half-hour, Joan Puig had to be substituted due to an early injury and was replaced by Javi Hernández.
The next moment of adversity was Villahermosa's sending offsomewhat harshly, 38 minutes in.
For the second half, Espanyol came out convinced that they would have a chance to score. Lleida barely troubled goalkeeper Venteo, besides a double intervention by the stopper early on, whilst Los Pericos outran their rival in attack and showed intensity.
The persistence paid off in the 65th minute, when they had and just nine players on the pitch. Luca Koleosho scored one of the goals of the season with a shot from the edge of the box that flew into the top corner.
RCD Espanyol B seemed content with the 1-1 scoreline, and managed the match well from thereon in to earn a point.
