RCD Espanyol B overcome Badalona Futur thanks to Javi Hernández's goal

RCD Espanyol B earned a valuable three points as they beat Badalona Futur 1-0 on Saturday.

It is no exaggeration to say that the first half was the best 45 minutes of the season so far. Espanyol played with intensity that overwhelmed Badalona, and that paid off; Javi Hernández put them ahead from the spot inside the opening 20 minutes.

The result could have been extended if it weren't for the intervention of the crossbar, first with a shot by Miguel Carvalho and then with a direct foul by Pecellín.

In the second half, Espanyol defended very well to protect their lead from the opening period. There was a lack of punch up top which made the end of the game tense, even more so when ten minutes were added.

In the end, a victory from the spot was a relief for Espanyol but a deserved three points at that, against a promotion contender who fell to their first defeat of the league campaign.
