1-0: Defeat in Alzira
A first half goal sees RCD Espanyol B beaten on the road
RCD Espanyol B suffered a 1-0 defeat on the road against Alzira on Sunday, and ended the match down to 10 men.
They began in dominant fashion with a great chance for Luca Koleosho in the 8th minute, in which he was denied only by the goalkeeper. In an even first half, a move by the home side on 37 minutes allowed Joel Rodríguez to put Alzira ahead.
The second half started the same as the first, with Espanyol B determined to score. Roger Martínez tried almost immediately after the restart with a strong shot from outside the area that the goalkeeper was able to block.
Carlos Mangada had an attempt kept out by the keeper, and it seemed that an equaliser was a question of time before Roger had another effort that whistled wide.
As the minutes passed and Espanyol continued to control the game, the arrivals onto the pitch of Raúl Dacosta, Juan Camilo Becerra and Joan Puig gave new life to the pericos.
A direct free kick from Dani Villahermosa was deflected wide and, in stoppage time, Dacosta and coach Luis Blanco were both sent off, as Alzira saw out the win and left RCD Espanyol heading home empty handed.
