0-2: Femení take first league win of 2022/23
The women's team earn a 2-0 victory against Córdoba
RCD Espanyol Femenino took their first victory of the season, beating Córdoba 2-0 on the road. Nayadet and Carol scored the goals in an excellent team performance.
The team came into the game arrived with optimism after their win in the Copa de la Reina, but Marc Cabestany's side had to adapt to the pitch and the weather conditions, with temperatures reaching 34ºC at times. The coach opted to make some changes to his starting XI for the contest.
RCD Espanyol needed time to settle into the game, looking for balls through to the forward line from the midfield, and the home team seemed to feel more comfortable initially, albeit only creating danger from isolated moves.
Natalia and Sara, on the left wing, began to generate attacking play, and Espanyol settled down as the minutes went by. On 41 minutes they found the net for the first time, as Sara made a run and a cross in that was headed home by Nayadet.
After the halftime break, Los Pericos kept up the intensity and an impeccable defence stopped the few attacks that came their way.
Changes saw Luzu and Judit Pablos come in and tire the opposition defence, and Pixu began to play more of a leading role in attack. Córdoba's only response was a shot against the crossbar, before Carol sealed the victory for RCD Espanyol Femenino with a great goal to make it 0-2.
