Luis Blanco's boys end the regular season with a defeat to Lleida Esportiu

RCD Espanyol fell to a 2-0 defeat against Lleida Esportiu in the last game of the regular season on Sunday, and now have their focus firmly on the upcoming play-offs.

Luis Blanco's boys had a good first half, although there was a shortage of dangerous chances and the game went into the interval goalless. In the second half, Lleida took a step forward and shortly after the restart, Chuli put the visitors ahead.

Espanyol made changes as they sought to protect those on bookings and at risk of suspension for the playoffs. Just after Antoniu Roca had a close chance to equalise, on his return to action after a month and a half out injured, Lleida made it 0-2 It in the 74th minute through Chuli's second.

In the final stretch, shots against the post, double chances, loose balls inside the area and more all came the young pericos way, but they were unable to convert. The playoffs get underway next weekend, with RCD Espanyol B finding out their opponents on Monday.
