Baptistao scores and gives Espanyol the three points
Espanyol added a new victory this season after defeating Leganés in the last minute of the match. Leo Baptistao took advantage of a great assist by Gerard and gave the three points to Espanyol in a very complicated match.
The white and blue team faced a very tough rival that is fighting to continue another year in the First Division. The players had to play in hard conditions: it was warm, the grass was dry and Leganés didn’t want to leave scape more points from their field.
The two teams made a lot of mistakes and in the first half there weren’t many chances. Diego López made some good saves to maintain a clean sheet during the first half. Espanyol, therefore, didn’t have much the ball and their offensive players didn’t appear much.
The second half started better for Espanyol. Caicedo had a great chance and a few minutes after Jurado was close to score with a centre from the right that Piatti was close to take advantage. Leganés improved with the minutes and again dominated the match. But the best for Espanyol was yet to arrive. When the match was in the las minutes Gerard caught a ball and then assisted for Baptistao who didn’t doubt and got the victory for Espanyol.
