0-1: Away win takes RCD Espanyol B top
Luis Blanco's boys win away against CD Ebro
RCD Espanyol B earned a 1-0 away win over CD Ebro on Sunday, thanks to a goal from Abde Damar and a tremendous performance from goalkeeper Iker Venteo.
The reduced dimensions of the pitch stifled link-up play for the team, and they were forced to play somewhat more direct. Solid in defence, they won most of the long balls sent upfield by the opposition.
There was only one chance for each team before the break: The first, for CD Ebro after 13 minutes of the game, when Javi Sánchez shot from close range and Venteo made the save.
On 25 minutes, the chance came Espanyol's way, and they took it well, as Juan Camilo Becerra opened up play for Abde, who broke into the box alone and turned the ball inside the far post.
In the second half, the dynamic of the match changed as Ebro became more attacking in search of an equaliser. They had five clear-cut chances, but each time were denied by Venteo.
The intensity died down in the final stretch, although mistakes created a degree of uncertainty for both sides. In the end, Espanyol B held on for the win. Their three points, combined with a draw for rivals Teruel, takes them to the top of the Primera RFEF.
