0-0: Survival point
The posts and Diego López, who stopped a penalty, allowed Espanyol to add a new tie
Espanyol added their fourth consecutive tie. On this occasion, the white-and-blue set equalized zero at Riazor in a very even game. Diego López returned to play as salvador when he stopped a penalty. The Galician was a nightmare for Deportivo, who in the second half looked for victory. The posts were also allied with the pericos. Cartabia and Andone ran into the wood, while Espanyol applied in defence to add a new point.
Espanyol had more possession than at other times and he approached Ruben's goal more insistently, but also Deportivo took more caution and chose to add defence forces to avoid surprises. But they did not bother too much and, at times, they appeared in attack with four elements (Andone, Adrián, Lucas and Fede Cartabia) to anchor the Catalan defense.
In fact, more than half of the first part had to be consumed so that occasions began to appear. First Baptistao finished off a center of Granero and shortly after Fede looked for the square of Diego Lopez with a thread of manual. Nor was Andone correct after a great gallop or Baptistao, this coup, in a center of Piatti.
Neither team wanted to give anything and thus returned after the break. Minutes of timing, of taking air, of avoiding precipitation and of dosing forces until the end. But when it seemed more serene, Espanyol encountered a penalty against a Granero push to Lucas that sought the contact and dragged the leg until he found it. Lucas himself threw it hard and placed but Diego López got his shot in the lead and stopped the shot. There was still an eternity. Espanyol suffered to the end. Andone had a great opportunity, but his head came to the post. The Galician goalkeeper kept the white-and-blue set in the final minutes with very good interventions and allowed his team to add a new tie.
