0-0: Stalemate at the Dani Jarque
RCD Espanyol Femení held to home draw by AEM Femenino
RCD Espanyol Femení played out a 0-0 draw with SE AEM Femenino on Saturday.
Espanyol were at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque for the first time in 2023, and under new coach Carolina Miranda, were looking to end the first half of the season in winning ways against an AEM side just two places above.
An end-to-end opening period saw chances aplenty for both teams, though AEM were certainly a threat. Andrea Gómez struck her shot over from inside the box before Adriana Martín had a great attempt for the hosts which was collected by Laura Marti.
Espanyol had a solid spell where they were pushing for the breakthrough, and Pixu came close on two occasions but was denied well by the keeper. Gómez’s effort came off the bar in the visitors’ closest attempt so far as it remained goalless at the break.
While the first half was action-packed there was little to shout about in the second, though it was Espanyol in charge and looking more likely to score. AEM would look to hit them on the break when the chance arose but with little coming from it.
A few substitutions gave the match a breath of fresh air, with Cristina Baudet inches away from scoring as her long shot flew wide of the post. That would be the best and practically only chance of the second half, as it ended in a goalless draw to see out the first half of the Primera RFEF Femenina campaign.
