0-0: Goalless draw at the Dani Jarque
RCD Espanyol Femení held to home stalemate by CD Cacareño Femenino
RCD Espanyol Femení drew 0-0 with CP Cacareño Femenino on Wednesday.
Off the back of consecutive wins in the Primera RFEF Femenina, the Femení were looking to make it a hat-trick and continue their rise up the table at the Ciutat Esportiva Dani Jarque.
Visitors Cacereño did not let Espanyol feel comfortable during the first half. They pushed and put pressure across the entire pitch, but Espanyol knew how to suffer and barely conceded chances in a tight affair.
However, the opposition did manage an attempt after twelve minutes that María Pi did well to deny. Judit Pablos then had a clear chance on goal for the hosts, but was denied by the opposition goalkeeper before Adriana Martín’s shot came close to the crossbar.
In the second half, Espanyol took a step forward and played more in the opposition half. The visitors’ chances came in the lengthy stoppage time that was added on at the end of the match (10 minutes to be exact) due to the injury of Núria Martínez. Adriana had some of the clearest opportunities of the night for the pericos but could not convert.
For all that they pushed, Espanyol Femení could not find a way through and would be held to a frustrating goalless draw on home soil. Now with hardly any time to recover, they have already turned their attention to Sunday's important trip to Real Oviedo.
