0-0, (4-2): Without aim
Compressed by the competition calendar, the Supercopa de Catalunya celebrated its third edition between Barcelona and Espanyol in Lleida, the only provincial capital that lacked being the headquarters of this derby.
The game, showcase for the youngest players and those who accumulate less minutes of their respective templates, had the point of tension to be entertained at times and to please the very young public (most schools and sports clubs) that filled the Camp d 'Esports.
With no particularly brilliant actions, the two teams were close to the rival goals. The lack of accuracy in the shots left the game fully matched at halftime, although the forwards of one and another team proved Pau and Cillesen.
Piatti had, probably, the two clearest of the first 45 minutes. In the first, his shot was spit out by the body of the Dutch goal, while, on the verge of rest, his near shot escaped over the crossbar.
After the break, Espanyol put one more speed and Piatti returned to have a couple of almost consecutive occasions in his new role as centre forward, before being replaced.
The game got a bit slow with the changes of both teams, but it took momentum and controversy with a fall of Puado inside the area as he struggled to finish between Mina and David Costas and a little later, with a distant kick from Álex López . From there, until the end, sparks in both areas without more effectiveness than a couple of good actions of both goalkeepers. And, without more, another round of penalties, as in the first Super Cup. And, again, bad luck for Espanyol that only approached two of the four pitches. Of the three finals, two losses on penalties. Very bad luck.
