“We were close to taking the three points”
Vicente Moreno emphasised that the team ended the match “a little better”
In the press conference, RCD Espanyol manager, Vicente Moreno, claimed that the team approached the match “with the intention to win”, and added “we were close to taking the three points.”
“We came with the intention of winning the three points, so we didn’t leave the match so satisfied, but you have to highlight the quality of the team we were facing, the season they’re having, the level and what was at stake, as this wasn’t an easy match for anyone. There’s a match less to play, we keep the same lead in the league and we’re a bit better than at the start of the season,” stated the white and blue manager, Vicente Moreno.
In this sense, the coach explained: “I think we thought through the match. That need to win it made the match a bit uglier. When it came to defending, we stopped them exploiting their qualities, although we lacked a little more patience in the first half. After the final whistle, we felt that we were closer to winning the match than losing it.”
On the subject of RDT, the coach commented that he is “annoyed because he is aware that there’s a lot at stake, and he had the possibility to clinch the victory. It would have been easier if we had scored another goal. In any case, we have to be satisfied with Raúl’s work, and his tremendous effort that he makes to contributing and improving. He was decisive in the lead up to the goal, he had a header at goal stopped by the keeper, the penalty incident...”
