“We showed real commitment”
Luis García was delighted with his team's display as RCD Espanyol beat Real Valladolid
RCD Espanyol coach Luis García praised the team’s performance speaking after the 2-0 win over Real Valladolid on Saturday.
The coach said, “We took a clear lead before the break and from there, we managed the result very well. In the first half, they caused us more uncertainty because they put a lot of players in the box. However, after the break we adjusted and they generated practically nothing.
“I even think it was closer to 3-0. We managed the advantage perfectly, defending the flanks very well and were aggressive and strong throughout the evening”.
Espanyol prevailed thanks to goals from their strikeforce, first from Martin Braithwaite’s penalty before Javi Puado doubled the Mágico’s lead just before the break. A goalless second half was of no concern for the hosts, who saw out the three points that returns them to the top of the league.
García added on the victory, “It is the sole and exclusive merit of my players. I am very happy for them because they have come from some difficult days where we had less time to prepare for the game than them. We always say that we strive to master all records and today it has been shown that the team knows how to defend very well and compete.
“All this is the merit of some players who do everything with a lot of passion and are eager to make the club grow.”
