Luis García reflected on a difficult defeat on home soil to Leganés
Luis García gave his verdict on Friday’s slim 1-0 loss at home to Leganés.
RCD Espanyol were edged out by the team sitting second in LaLiga Hypermotion, falling to a first home defeat of the season at the Stage Front Stadium.
García said, “Of course losing always stings, whether it is at home or away. We have to follow the right path, correct our mistakes, improve and find solutions for the future, which within a week”.
Espanyol have eight days from the defeat to Leganés to prepare for next Saturday, when they travel to Sporting de Gijón on a game that falls on the Club’s 123rd birthday.
The coach continued, “When a team presents you with such a low 5-4-1 setup, it is not easy to get into their area. You need to generate one-on-one chances and overlapping situations and it was not easy. It was a difficult match, a very balanced once at that”
García concluded, “Just like when we beat Real Valladolid and it was a party, now it cannot be anything else. The road is very long. In such close matches, the most precise team sometimes wins. I have full confidence in the players, they gave everything to avoid defeat. This is sport and it can happen”.
