“We have to change”
Luis Miguel Ramis recognises that there is work to do following the draw with FC Andorra
RCD Espanyol coach Luis Miguel Ramis was brutally self-critical in his assessment of the 1-1 draw with FC Andorra on Saturday.
He said, “We were not aggressive, though in the second half we adjusted more. The match, at 1-0 up, had to be killed off, we all have to contribute much more. In the first half [Martin] Braithwaite had a very clear chance that players of his quality should score. To be honest a draw is a fair result, but we have to be able to manage that lead”.
Espanyol went ahead through an own goal in the second half, but a late goal for Andorra meant it ended all square at the Estadi Nacional d’Andorra. Next up is a home game against Burgos on Tuesday, the final game of 2023 before the winter break.
Ramis explained, “The good thing is that there is still a way to go. We have to change and we are going to work on it. We know our potential, but we are not showing it. No one is going to be promoted tomorrow anyway. It worries me that these results may not affect the players, but I will recover quickly.
“We must do more when we’re playing away, and right now we are not doing it. These are quality players and they will bounce back”.
