“We have to act”
Luis Miguel Ramis wants to see his side build on last week's win when they head to Real Racing Club
Luis Miguel Ramis’ side are revitalised after last week’s win and ready to seek the three points away to Real Racing Club on Saturday.
RCD Espanyol overcame promotion rivals Levante 2-1 last time out, and as they make the trip to Santander sitting a point shy of the automatic promotion spots, the men’s head coach has full belief in his team to get the job done.
Ramis said, “When we play at home we are closer to the idea of what we want, but we also have to show that away from home. I'm excited to think that this is going to change in a few weeks. What do we have to do? We have to look forward and not stop. I'm not going to stop. We want to reverse that situation”.
The Catalan coach further explained, “Excitement, spirit, strength... We have all of that. But we must act. The important thing is that the fans see it. We have to give continuity to what we want, but we are somewhat bipolar and there are times when we miss minimal but important issues.
“In many games, we have been doing well but are unable to show that in the scoreline. The key is to try to replicate on the pitch what we do during the week. This is as complex as knowing that you can do many things well, but you make a mistake and the game is gone. You have to be very attentive with all five senses”.
Espanyol are without Edu Expósito after his surgery, while Nico Melamed remains in the rehabilitation phase of his injury. The team is boosted by the return of co-captain Javi Puado, as well as the returns in the win against Levante of Víctor Ruiz from the sidelines, and Rubén Sánchez after his loan spell was cut short.
Ramis concluded, “I think the team is willing to do anything because of the commitment they show every day. Racing have the ability and talent to be effective, so we have to get closer to our best version because we have had good performances, but not for the whole 90 minutes”.
