“We have taken a step forward”
Luis Miguel Ramis reflects on a first win in charge over Elche CF on Saturday
Luis Miguel Ramis could reflect on a hard-fought win on Saturday over Elche, speaking at his post-match press conference.
RCD Espanyol prevailed thanks to a Martin Braithwaite brace at the Stage Front Stadium, moving them up to fourth for the time being. The men’s first team coach analysed the team’s performance following the final whistle.
Ramis said, “I am certainly happier than the other day. The main objective is to get points, and tonight we did more than the other day and were more forceful in all phases of the game. The win generates confidence in the players; the game plan was well executed, we worked hard, kept a clean sheet and were attentive to the details. Now it's time to continue taking steps forward”.
He continued, “We did well defensively, both individually and as a collective. We won all the duels, did well going forward, but at times, must give more continuity with what we do with the ball. We will certainly work on that in the coming weeks”.
Saturday’s win is a first for Ramis in charge, following last week’s draw on the road to Huesca. Next up is another home match, as Alcorcón are the visitors to the Temple next Sunday evening.
Ramis concluded, “The sooner the players understand what we want on a collective level, the better. We will gain confidence and that is what the points give us. Today we have taken a step forward. The main thing now is to have balance, be a very difficult team to play against and gain confidence”.
