“We have earned praise”
Vicente Moreno highlighted that the league title will remain in the club's history
RCD Espanyol manager, Vicente Moreno, assured that the team has earned praise for winning the league title despite the defeat in the last match against AD Alcorcón. “We wanted to finish with a victory. We started well and created chances, but they scored with their first attempt at goal. We have to be satisfied with a win, a draw and two defeats after managing to achieve promotion. We are a historic club which hasn’t been in the second division much, and it's going to be the second time that Espanyol has won the championship: it’ll be remembered that we are champions,” he stated.
Vicente Moreno admitted that he would have enjoyed it more “with a draw and not losing” and highlighted that “we are champions, we made it and it’s part of the club’s history.” “We’ve earned praise, and today’s defeat doesn’t mean anything. The league title is well-deserved no matter what we’ve been through because we have been much better than the others,” he concluded.
