“We go with the utmost humility”
Luis García previews the midweek trip down to Cartagena
There is no room for complacency from Monday’s victory against Racing Club Ferrol as attention now turns to the trip to Cartagena on Thursday.
Espanyol will go top of LaLiga with a win or a draw in southern Spain, in what will be a third consecutive midweek game. Luis García knows what is at stake but is just as conscious of approaching their opponents and the match pragmatically.
García said, “We go with the utmost humility, with the intention of being the better team on the pitch and getting the three points. We know that we are facing a team that is where they are in the table, but that should have more points than they have”.
The coach spoke highly about hosts Cartagena, despite sitting bottom of the league, and what lies ahead at the Municipal Cartagonova. He explained, “It is anecdotal that they are in the position they are in because they deserve to have many more points. They are a very dangerous opponent”.
García concluded “We all want to achieve the goal of promotion as soon as possible, but we know that it will be very long and complicated to achieve. The fans understand this and whenever we need them, especially in the bad moments, they help us and push us. The communication with the fans is exceptional.
“The team is mentally fine and have recovered from Monday. Everyone is looking forward to playing again, we’ll see what happens tomorrow".
