“We competed well”
Abelardo came away satisfied from the cup game against San Sebastián de los Reyes. The coach recognised that from the kick-off “it was not an easy game. We were up against a well organised side that moved the ball well…It was one of those games where you have more to lose than to gain. I’d say that we competed well. We grew into the game and in the second half we had more chances. We’ve already seen La Liga teams lose against lower league sides. It’s not easy.”
The coach added that “the team put in a good performance and we took advantage of the opportunity to get some players involved that hadn’t played much recently. We’re lucky enough to be competing on three fronts and its good for them to boost their confidence”
For the “blanquiazul” manager, the only negative from the game was that “for 15 or 20 minutes we didn’t dominate the game. We’ll try to improve. Today it was important to win and to get through to the next round. Starting tomorrow we’ll turn our attention to the next game. We love playing in the cup. The further we can go, the better. We have to keep managing the squad. Now we have to think about the league, so we’ll training tomorrow and from Wednesday we’ll start to prepare for the game against Villarreal.
