“We are very excited for it”
Luis Miguel Ramis knows what is at stake for the Copa del Rey clash against Real Valladolid
Luis Miguel Ramis is looking forward to Tuesday’s Copa del Rey meeting with Real Valladolid, the first of two home games this week.
RCD Espanyol are back in cup action at the Stage Front Stadium having prevailed over CD Mensajero in the first round, now turning their attention to a fellow second division side in Valladolid.
Ramis said, “We want to progress to the next round of a competition that we like and that we are going to give respect and value to. We always want to show our best version and we have our objective etched in stone. You cannot go to a stadium full of Espanyol shirts and not give importance to the game”.
Espanyol are hoping to bounce back to the away defeat at Real Oviedo on Friday, though they can put that behind them as they target a place in the third round of the cup. It is the first of two crucial home games this week, with the Mágico back in action on Friday when they host Real Zaragoza in the league.
Ramis continued, “We want to gain confidence with good results. We don't want to leave it too late; in football, there can be a surprise behind every door you open if you do not things right. We try to open doors that take us to where we want to go.
“We have analysed and felt the pain from the last game, we have seen what we need to do differently and we approach tomorrow’s game with great enthusiasm. We had reasons to be self-critical, it helps us grow and learn. We know where we went wrong”.
