“We are taking it week by week”
Luis Miguel Ramis emphasises the importance of consistency after the win against Alcorcón
Luis Miguel Ramis pointed out the positive steps taken in Sunday’s 2-0 win over AD Alcorcón.
RCD Espanyol prevailed 2-0 thanks to goals from Pere Milla and Jofre Carreras either side of half-time, making it consecutive home wins at the Stage Front Stadium.
Ramis said, “The best thing is the result, and we can always work on our development. We had good phases, but I did not like the last few minutes. We could have had more control and more instinct, but we will work on it. I am satisfied with the players’ effort and the importance they give to each game. Three points always reinforce our work”.
He continued, “We are taking it week by week. These first few have been good and the evolution is good. We have to improve some situations and we must continue pushing. Today some players did not play as a precaution and we gained a week of training, but they are all important. We have repeated teams for performance and because they fit the game. Everyone will have their moment”.
Espanyol rose up to third with the win, taking seven points from the opening three games under Ramis. There are five games to go before the winter break, starting with a trip up to Real Oviedo this Friday.
The coach explained, “The aim is always to cause damage to our opponent and not receive any ourselves – which will of course come one day – but we want to be consistent and be difficult for our opponents. Having consistency is very important to grow and get where we want. You have to be very rigorous”.
Ramis concluded, “We must have a more killer instinct, we cannot forgive and we will work on that. Both games [against Elche and Alcorcón] were difficult and they had their moments. We created chances and conceded few, and we must always play with the intention of not giving in and taking advantage of situations”.
