“We are eager to avenge ourselves”
Luis Miguel Ramis looks ahead to the first league game after the winter break against Racing Club Ferrol
Ahead of the first league game back following the winter break, Luis Miguel Ramis is feeling positive for Saturday’s trip to Racing de Ferrol.
RCD Espanyol already returned to action in the Copa del Rey last week, but now full attention is back on LALIGA Hypermotion and the fight for promotion. The men’s head coach addressed the media before the journey over to Galicia.
Ramis said, “I have always tried to be optimistic. We believe in ourselves and that is clear in the atmosphere around the squad this week, so we have that responsibility. Tomorrow we must respond to this, we are keen to avenge ourselves”.
Opponents Racing Ferrol sit three points ahead of Espanyol in the automatic promotion places ahead of kick-off, with both teams setting their sight on the top. The Mágico are aided by the return of Victor Ruíz from injury, who has been sidelined for months.
Ramis added, “We should not leave any points behind and must try to make the most of every game. We travel with this responsibility and knowing that we are one game away from getting into the automatic promotion positions. We have worked very well these days, we go with all humility and respect to an opponent who is doing very well.
“They are very confident and very strong at home. We go with all the responsibility and commitment to play a good game and get those points that put us higher in the table. Ferrol are a team with a lot of confidence and in a good moment of performance”.
January not only marks the restart of the Spanish football season following Christmas, but also the beginning of the winter transfer window. Asked about Espanyol’s aims in the market, Ramis responded, “We are all working together, the sporting body and the technical management. We all want the best for the club and that is also where decision-making comes into play. We are working to not make mistakes”.
