“We are all going to give our best”
Fernando Pacheco insists that the team is aware of the weight on their shoulders before the trip to Real Racing Club
Back on the road to face Real Racing Club this Saturday, Fernando Pacheco has described the team’s unity in the pursuit of promotion.
RCD Espanyol overcame Levante in a crucial win last time out, and now travel to northern Spain hoping to find some much-needed success away from home.
Pacheco said, “It was a high for everyone, we needed to win and as it happened, we had to believe until the end, fight until the end, so it was a tremendous adrenaline rush. It may be the turning point we needed; inside we are very united and I think we are going to do it.
“We lack that maturity and victories give you that. get the feeling that, at times, we play good football, but also having so much anxiety and so much desire to win the game turns against us”.
Espanyol sit a point off the automatic promotion spots and now face a Racing club outside of the playoff spots but not far off. After some difficult away matches in the last few months, the Mágico will be vying for another three points on the road.
Pacheco continued, “We know which Club we are in and what we are playing for. You have to put a lot of heart into football, but also head and keep your heart rate low. We have a clear objective in the changing room and we are going to fight until the end and give our best. Hopefully we can re-energise our fans again, and at least give them something to cheer about”.
