“It is time to win”
Víctor Sánchez said that the team needs to start a good spell of results
Espanyol was capable again to win of the big teams of the League. Víctor Sánchez, one of the captains of the squad, said that the team needed to win and added that he hopes that Espanyol can start a good steak of results.
“Against this kind of teams we feel very comfortable, specially this year. Maybe we don’t have to create so much and we like this type of matches. We can defend well, we are concentrated –in some matches we made mistakes and that cost us goals- and we arrive to the end of the matches with options to win”, he said.
“It is time to win independently how we play. It is not going to be easy but if we can win this Sunday, it will give us a lot of confidence. We have to win because next week we have another match at home. We want to advance on the table”, he said.
“Since I play for Espanyol we hadn’t won Barcelona or R. Madrid. People feels well, they feel proud of the team, they are nice days. There are three points but they give us a lot of confidence”, he said.
“The league is a reflection of how the team has been. If we are in this situation, it is our fault. I have the feeling that there have been matches that could have got us into the fight and we have not achieved it. There are days left, we are not that far and we have to continue match by match. I hope we get to the last days thinking that we can be there and think we can fight for something more beautiful. There is no team that gives away anything”, he said.
Víctor Sánchez said that the team hopes to be in a better position but regrets that Espanyol hasn’t been able to win two consecutive matches. “We want to be in the first ten. We have two or three matches in which if we are serious, intense we can add three points more. However, we can’t relax”, he said.
Finally, about his teammate Gerard Moreno he said that “it is a player of the Academy that came back to succeed. It is a prize for the work he has done, for his constancy, for how he fights each ball. He is a very complete player and I hope that he continues giving us so much. I hope he is soon in the National Team because he deserves it”.
