Borja Iglesias said that he is very motivated after signing for Espanyol
Borja Iglesias has been officially presented as new Espanyol’s player. The new striker is confident and said that he is very motivated. After a great season playing for R. Zaragoza, the Galician player wants to help the team to do a great season.
“That is something that the player has to feel proud about. That a team decides to sign you is not an extra pressure; it is something that motivates me. I feel confident because Espanyol has chosen me. We all know how good Gerard is, I have played with him but I haven’t come here to be the new Gerard; I am Borja Iglesias”, he said.
“I was more scared when I played in Segunda B and my situation was different. Now I have signed for a historic team, I am very happy. There are several things you worry about and this one is not one of them”, he said.
“I had different options but since Espanyol phoned and explained me the project I didn’t have any doubt. It is the perfect set up for me. I am here to add and help Espanyol. It is a very important challenge for me. The club has given me a lot of confidence and affection”, he said.
The sport general Area Manager, Óscar Perarnau, said that Borja is “a player with a lot of potential, he can improve a lot. He is a scorer. We wanted to supply Gerard with another top scorer. With the help of his team-mates he will give a great performance”.
