“I want to see us develop”
Luis Miguel Ramis reflects on a good week of work building up to Saturday's meeting with Elche CF
After his debut in Huesca last time out, Luis Miguel Ramis is now gearing up towards his debut at the Stage Front Stadium on Saturday.
RCD Espanyol welcome Elche CF to the Temple this weekend, another promotion contender who the Mágico will be keen to make some ground up on. The new men’s first team coach addressed the media at the Juan Segura Palomares auditorium ahead of the LALIGA Hypermotion clash.
Ramis said, “We have worked on what we wanted, this is a very receptive group. I am hoping to see great progress compared to the previous game, I think we have had enough time to correct certain situations that should not happen again. We want to play well, to not let them score goals, to score ourselves and to overwhelm the opponent.
However, that is easier said than done because we have an opponent looking for the same thing as you. This is professional football. This week we have another opportunity and it is an obligation to react and, with that reaction and the work of the week, we will be closer to getting the win: that is what I hope to see tomorrow”.
Espanyol will be eager to return to winning ways at the Stage Front Stadium, where they will be backed by thousands of pericos and pericas on Saturday night.
Ramis continued, “Today we are the fifth best team in the league, that is what the table says and and so it will happen every week. I hope we get to matchday 42 and that the table says what we all want. But there is still a lot of work to be done”.
He concluded, “I want to see us develop, but above all I want us to win, as do the player. I have no doubt that we are going to see it. The first thing we have to look for are the three points that should give us peace of mind to continue. And so on until we achieve a good and necessary team inertia to compete in the Second Division”.
