“I believe in this club”
Cabrera says “you can feel the positivity” in the dressing room and he is sure of having made “the right decision”
Leandro Cabrera is an Espanyol player. The Uruguayan defender’s first few hours as a “blanquiazul” have been a whirlwind. In the morning he was at the Dani Jarque Training Centre to take part in his first training session, and in the afternoon he was officially presented by the club. “I believe in this club”, he said, summing up his excitement for this new chapter in his career. “I want to thank all the people that made this possible. The club is putting in a lot of effort to make this happen, and I hope to be able to reciprocate that effort from my first day here”, he said, adding that “today I met my new teammates and they’ve instilled optimism and good energy. I’m a ‘perico’ now.
He says that “Espanyol is a really big club, with a lot of history and with great fans that have shown they’ll always get behind the team. This is a long-term project. I see it as a challenge, and I’m taking it very seriously. This is one of the most important steps in my career – I believe in this club”.
He also notes “you can feel the positivity here. There’s a real harmony within the group. I don’t know how they’ve been feeling in weeks gone by, but I’ve seen a really positive atmosphere and how happy they are with yesterday’s victory. It might a massive challenge, but the attitude I’ve seen here amongst the players confirms that I’ve made the right decision”.
