“I am someone who looks forward”
Luis Miguel Ramis is keen to end the year on a high with the visit of Burgos CF
With one last test before the winter break against Burgos CF on Tuesday, head coach Luis Miguel Ramis is keen to end on a high.
RCD Espanyol welcome the mid-table side to the Stage Front Stadium on matchday 21, the final round of fixtures before a three-week break going into 2024. The men’s first team coach addressed the media on Monday afternoon, with barely any time since returning from the draw in Andorra.
Ramis said, “Our obligation is to have no regrets and focus immediately on the next game, which is tomorrow. The display cabinets are filled with trophies, titles and achievements. The disappointments are not in the trophies, they are somewhere else”.
On opponents Burgos, he said, “They also want to play well and get the points, we are no different than what others are looking for. On matchdays we have to show it and be able to compete as equals. That is where everything is reflected”.
The point away to FC Andorra keeps Espanyol in the play-off spots and not far off the top two, though the margin for error reduces as the battle for promotion gets tighter with each week. Finishing on a high would be a big confidence boost for the squad, as well as bringing a final bit of happiness to the fans before Christmas.
He concluded, “The criticism from the fans when we do not win is normal. We are to blame when that happens and we must correct it. They demand of us to be where we have to be. It is the level of demand of a large Club. If we had taken advantage of the chances we had the other day, the score would have been different, but we did not”.
