“I am happy with the performance but sad about the result”

Luis Miguel Ramis gave a balanced assessment of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat in the Copa del Rey to Getafe, as RCD Espanyol were eliminated in the round of 32 of the cup.

He said, “We deserved to go through. We were not clinical in the situations we have had. The first half was very good, but in the second we were more tired. The match was good, the team showed personality and intensity. I am happy with the performance but sad about the result”.

The first game of 2024 ended in Espanyol’s exit from the Copa del Rey, losing out a tight match to a late goal at the Stage Front Stadium. Attention now turns to the return of LALIGA Hypermotion, when the Mágico travel to Racing Ferrol on Saturday.

Ramis insisted, “The players also share those feelings, they know when they have done well and when they have not. They trained hard, the elimination hurts us because it does not reward what we saw on the pitch against a strong team. This has to serve to strengthen us and know that if we play like this we will be a very difficult team”.

He concluded, “We competed well and we showed personality, but it did not go our way. I am clear about what the team needs and today I saw many things that I want to see and, if we keep doing them, we will be closer to winning games. If we have this continuity it will be positive, now we must work so that we maintain what we say today”.
