“I’m annoyed with the defeat”

Abelardo laments the goal conceded in the final minutes of the first half

RCD Espanyol de Barcelona are out of the Copa del Rey after losing against Real Sociedad. The ‘Blanquiazul’ coach, Abelardo Fernández, said that he was “annoyed” with the defeat and lamented the goal conceded in the final minutes of the first half. “We weren’t good enough going forward in the first half. We weren’t able to put together more than two or three passes and we couldn’t beat their press. We didn’t win any second balls either, but their goal at the end of the first half was a shame”, the ‘blanquiazul’ coach declared.

The Espanyol boss, who said he was still “delighted” with his squad, explained, “in the second half we were quite a lot better. We tried to do more, we were better positionally and actually, we missed a chanced to make it 1-1 with Ferreyra’s shot before Real Sociedad scored their second”. “I’m annoyed, because I always like to win and I would have loved to get through and be in the Last 16. We tried”, he concluded.
