“A confidence boost”
Abelardo sees the draw against Sevilla as “a point gained”
The RCD Espanyol de Barcelona coach, Abelardo Fernández, views the draw against Sevilla as “a point gained” and added that the result will come as a confidence boost for the team. “I’m pleased with the point. The team played really well, because it was never going to be easy to come here and play against a Sevilla side on a run of three bad results. We made it hard for ourselves conceding after 15 minutes, but the team came back well. Víctor’s sending off affected us, but the team reacted well, remained solid and we’re still alive and kicking. We are ready to go to war”.
Abelardo said that the team “showed it’s united, with clear ideas. We pressed Sevilla at the right times, won the ball in the opposition half and therefore I’m happy with the team’s work today. This point is hugely important and will give us a big confidence boost. The lads’ work today was incredible and they’re itching to get us out of the position we’re in. The team is truly alive and kicking”.
